Example Sales Call #4 - Dog Sitting Sales Call
Sales Call Notes
You can hear this call took me a bit off guard. I answered this one while I was working in my office rather than scheduling it beforehand.
Whenever I don’t schedule my sales calls ahead of time I seem to have a harder time getting folks set up. I had a bit of trouble getting my timeslots mixed up on this call. However, this call worked out fine in the end.
Overall, this call has a good example of working with the client to set up their schedule.
Many clients think they can get by with shorter visits than what they actually need. Although it might only take the client 10 minutes to water their greenhouse – for a sitter it will take much longer because they need to read over notes and make sure they did everything according to the client’s directions.
You will notice I ask a few leading questions to try to mitigate risk. This client also has an interesting story about how he was injured while walking dogs … and lost his sense of smell.
Other notes: Over the years I’ve started to recommend 20 – 30 minute long bedtime visits. Looking back on this call, I probably would have set up their mid-day visit around 3-5pm instead.
Lastly, we do allow pets to stay in a secure backyard in-between visits, however we do require the dog to have access to shelter and water. The weather also must be relatively good based on the breed of dog (and medical conditions).
The customer was very personable.
Very good!
Very smooth and easy conversation to answer the concern of the potential client.
